DETOX MANTRA
You are working right, you are eating right, you are even sleeping right but there is something wrong. What’s wrong? The answer is “I am not feeling right.” What I think is that you are probably not eating right. The fats, sugars, starches, alcohol that you consume produce toxins in the body. The blood thickens, the fats get accumulated, you are low on energy and feeling sluggish. Your liver is overworked and digestion is poor. The toxins get mixed with blood and body efficiency diminishes.
Whenever there’s a party in the office or hang out with buddies, food we eat is unhealthy. Body demands balanced diet full of fiber, anti-oxidants, minerals and vitamins. But before getting to balanced diet we need to cleanse our body from inside. The toxins produced in the body need to be eliminated from the body. This can be achieved by reducing load on liver, kidneys and intestines and making them more efficient in eliminating unwanted toxins from the body.
This process of removing toxins from the body is called detoxification. This process needs no medication. More the natural more the better. It is nothing but a diet control regime that you are going to follow for some days and revitalize your body.
How to detox?
1. Start by drinking water – Water is the best natural detoxifying agent. It can easily clean intestine and the kidneys. Drink a glass of warm water when you get up in the morning. You can also add lemon and honey.
2. Eat organic fiber rich food – Organic fruits, vegetables are free from insecticides and pesticides and full of fiber, vitamins and minerals. The fiber and vitamins helps in defecation of toxic solid matter from the body.
4. Green tea – Full of anti-oxidants green tea is really great. Just brew a few fine leaves in hot water, add no sugar and just sip it slowly. Replace your bed tea with green tea. You can take 3-4 cups every day. You can add lemon and a little honey if you like. Also try cinnamon and cardamom powder, these work as natural sweeteners with zero calories.
5. Fasting – Sometimes you need to take a bold step and reduce that craving for food. One day of fasting can work wonders for your body. It relaxes the internal organs of body like liver, pancreas, kidneys etc. and also force the body to use accumulated fat. You can still have fresh fruits and vegetables and water but in small quantities.
There are many other methods for detoxification but these are the basics. Take this small initiative towards good health and active body. Only food won’t help, you also need to exercise daily, also you can learn a few yoga asana to supplement this detoxification process.
